State deputy Thiago Abrahim (União Brasil) was the most economical parliamentarian in the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam) in 2023.

According to data from the Quota for the Exercise of Parliamentary Activity (Ceap), Abrahim was the parliamentarian who spent the least last year, leaving a surplus of R$52,232.97.

“We, as state deputies, have the role of monitoring Executive spending, but we also have to set a good example of exercising economy in our mandate. I will continue with balanced management and spending control”, said Abrahim.

The “fluff” is the amount that members of the Legislative Branch are entitled to receive monthly to cover typical expenses of the parliamentary exercise. Car rental, fuel and office supplies were some of the services that the deputy used most at Ceap.

“Lift must be used responsibly, whether in the National Congress, in the Legislative Assemblies, or in the Municipal Chambers. It is important to be aware of the use of these resources”, he concluded.

The monthly balance not used in a month accumulates over 12 months, with accumulation from one financial year to the next prohibited. The legislative resolution that deals with the parliamentary quota in Aleam is nº 460/2009.
