The deputy governor of Mato Grosso, Otávio Pivetta (Republicans), said this Monday (27) that he sees no room for former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to run for the state Senate in 2026.

“I don’t believe that can happen. Here in the state we have genuine and legitimate leadership. He [Bolsonaro] there’s a lot of strength here, obviously, but I don’t think there’s room for this migration,” he told journalists in the state.

The statements by Pivetta, who is a Bolsonaro supporter, were given after the Panel revealed that the former president confided to interlocutors that he prefers to run for the Senate in 2026, to form a large group of allies.

Mato Grosso was mentioned as one of the states to which Bolsonaro could transfer his electoral domicile, alongside Rondônia and the Federal District – all places where he had a significant vote in the last elections.

The deputy from Mato Grosso has been mentioned as a possible candidate for the Senate in four years.
