Deputy demands maximum sentence for military police officer suspected of feminicide in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – The Special Prosecutor for Women of the Legislative Assembly of Amazonas (Aleam), state deputy Alessandra Campelo (Podemos), spoke about the femicide of Camila Vitória Frithz da Silva, 27 years old, who died with a gunshot to the head, and said she hopes that the perpetrator of the crime is exemplarily punished.

The case occurred last Saturday (04), in a condominium in the Lago Azul neighborhood, North Zone of Manaus. The main suspect in the crime is PM soldier Olímpio Gomes Maia. According to information released by the press, the military police officer did not accept the end of the relationship with the young woman, and upon arriving home, he killed the woman. The couple had a four-year-old son.

The PM was arrested in the act in the early hours of Saturday and taken to the 6th Integrated Police District.

“This man killed his wife with a shot to the head. There are WhatsApp messages from her asking for help from a friend, she also shouted for help in the condominium, but they didn’t call the police because, according to the residents, the police were often called and nothing came of it”, said the deputy, who was at the victim’s wake on Sunday morning (05).

The Women’s Attorney regretted that, before being taken to the police station by colleagues in uniform who escorted him, the suspected criminal even took a shower in the couple’s apartment. For Alessandra, the crime scene may have been tampered with. The deputy also revealed that, on the 6th DIP, the police officer had made a police report recording the “suicide” of his ex-partner.

“The crime scene was disturbed, he took a shower before going to the police station. What’s more: at the police station he registered a suicide report. Those who are about to commit suicide do not send a message asking for help saying they are afraid of dying, nor do they scream for help. She had a history of aggression over many years. If justice is served, this man will rot in jail. I hope he is exemplarily punished”, emphasized the deputy.

Two more cases

Representative Alessandra Campelo also denounced two more cases involving military police officers. In Eirunepé, a PM sergeant identified by Damásio appears in videos attacking a woman, breaking bottles and threatening customers in a bar. The parliamentarian said that she will ask the PM Command to remove the police officer from the municipality, in addition to informing that she will demand an investigation by the Civil Police into the incident.

In Manacapuru, the complaint is against a military police officer identified as Eliedson Silva. He allegedly attacked his wife and threw shots at a neighbor’s house. The ALEAM Women’s Attorney will also request the removal, in addition to an investigation to determine the suspect’s criminal responsibility.

“I find it absurd that, unfortunately, within the Military Police there are cases of cover-ups of men who attack women. They have to be an example or choose another profession. When you choose to wear a uniform, you have to honor the PM and honor the population”, concluded the deputy.
