Deputy Professor Luciene Cavalcante (PSOL-SP) began collecting signatures to file a request for a CPI on the attacks on schools.

As he justifies, the collegiate will have the objective of “investigating the causes behind the recurrent violent attacks on Brazilian schools, in order to identify government omissions in prevention, investigation and reparation actions before and after the attacks”. It also aims to analyze problems in school environments and the working conditions of education professionals.

“In most cases, the authorities’ immediate response to attacks boils down to greater policing in schools. However, such a measure is insufficient, since the military police only act in a repressive manner. Prevention, investigation and reparation to avoid future cases”, he believes.

To be able to file it, the deputy needs the support of at least a third of the deputies. If installed, it will have 27 parliamentarians and will operate for 120 days.

A 25-year-old man invaded the Cantinho Bom Pastor day care center in Blumenau (SC) this Wednesday (5) and killed four children, according to information from the State Military Police and Fire Department. The victims are three boys and a girl, aged between 5 and 7 years.

This is the second attack on the school in less than 10 days. Last week, a 13-year-old teenager killed a 71-year-old teacher at the Thomazia Montoro state school, in Vila Sônia, west of São Paulo. Elisabeth Tenreiro was a science teacher.
