The Minister of Justice, Flávio Dino, said that starting this Thursday (6) 50 police officers will dedicate themselves “exclusively” to monitoring threats on the internet. The announcement was made this Wednesday afternoon (5), alongside other ministers, after a 25-year-old man killed four children and injured four others at a day care center in Blumenau (SC).

The minister also announced that the federal government will make R$ 150 million available to states and municipalities to strengthen school police patrols. “This will be done through a public notice, which we will talk to the minister [da Educação] Camilo [Santana] and with the state security secretaries, the amount initially allocated is R$ 150 million from the National Fund for Public Security”, said Dino.

According to him, the value will be offered to the states and municipalities that have “constitutional competence to carry out ostensive patrolling”. The Minister of Education, Camilo Santana, confirmed that the inter-ministerial group to discuss safety in schools will hold its first meeting this Thursday ( 6), at 10:30 am Earlier, he had already announced the creation of the group.

Santana stated that the group must submit proposals to combat violence in schools within 90 days. In addition to the Ministry of Education, representatives of the ministries of Justice, of Human Rights, of the General Secretariat of the Presidency, among others, will also form part of the group.
