Deputy calls for revocation of PCO for supporting Hamas – 02/24/2024 – Panel

State deputy Guto Zacarias (União Brasil-SP) filed a request with the Electoral Court to revoke the registration of the PCO (Partido da Causa Operária) for his defense of Hamas.

The Palestinian terrorist organization was responsible for the deaths of around 1,200 Israelis in an attack on October 7 last year.

On February 17th, the national president of the PCO, Rui Costa Pimenta, met with Ismail Haniyeh, one of the leaders of Hamas, in Doha, Qatar.

In his action, Zacarias, who is deputy leader of the Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans) government in the Legislative Assembly and a member of the MBL (Movimento Brasil Livre), also mentions the existence of a tent in the center of Rio de Janeiro where the PCO sells products in defense of Hamas and other pro-Palestinian groups.

“It is not permissible for the Workers’ Cause Party to use its structure and militancy to promote a mobilization that defends a terrorist organization, marked by anti-Semitic cruelty, the murder of children and women and the promotion of a holy war. Defending the Palestinian cause is a political stance, legitimizing a terrorist group is a crime that cannot be ignored.”, stated Zacarias in the piece sent to the Superior Electoral Court.
