Favacho warns that, with the advancement of technology and the spread of the use of social networks and electronic applications, fraudsters have started to use increasingly sophisticated tools to mislead victims and obtain illicit advantages.
“Today, criminals employ artificial intelligence to create deepfakes – fake images, videos or audio that appear authentic. This technology has been used to simulate the voice of relatives or acquaintances and deceive the victim, making him trust the interlocutor to the point of providing him with personal information or even transferring financial resources. We need to regulate and penalize this type of crime.”explains.
Acácio warns that fraud committed through the use of artificial intelligence has the capacity to generate much greater damage, as it enhances the confidence factor in the victim and creates a false sense of security. The agent then takes advantage of this supposed credibility with the victim to commit the crime.
“I have seen many cases in the press, such as, for example, when the criminal uses a person’s voice through Artificial Intelligence (AI) to borrow money through WhatsApp, the use of AI causes much greater damage, as it creates the false feeling of confidence and security in the victim”explains the deputy.
