Minister of Agriculture retreats and confirms presence at the MST CPI this Thursday (17)

After informing that he could not attend the session of the MST’s CPI, the Minister of Agriculture and Livestock, Carlos Fávaro, went back and confirmed his presence to provide clarifications to the collegiate this Thursday (17).

Fávaro should explain to parliamentarians about the measures adopted by the portfolio in light of the statement by the MST leader, João Pedro Stédile, to promote land invasions throughout Brazil, confirmed the Câmara Agency this evening. Stédile was heard by the collegiate this Tuesday (15).

According to an initial statement, Fávaro would not be able to attend the session due to an “extensive ministerial agenda”. The minister’s hearing was requested by deputy Evair Vieira de Melo (PP-ES). The rapporteur of the CPI, deputy Ricardo Salles (Novo-SP), even called Fávaro a “runaway” in the social media.

“Minister Fávaro of Agriculture, set a date to attend the invitation of the CPI of the MST for this 5th [quinta-feira], incidentally, which would have been a summons but it was converted into an invitation out of mere courtesy, and he fled.
