Deputies demand from Flávio Dino actions to combat corruption in the government

The deputies who are part of the Financial Inspection and Control Commission of the Chamber demanded from Minister Flávio Dino, of Justice, this Wednesday (3), explanations for the actions that have been taken by the government in the fight against corruption.
It was during a session that he also heard clarifications on the ministry’s role in the acts of January 8, the minister’s presence at the Maré complex, in Rio de Janeiro, in March, among other topics.
Dino was charged by federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) that the government does not mention the fight against corruption as a priority of the current management, and stated that “although there are several people being investigated, prosecuted or even convicted of corruption within [da atual equipe de] government, I believe that this should not be a taboo. It needs to be treated as a State priority, not a government one,” he said, according to Agência Brasil.
The minister stated that actions to combat corruption take place on a daily basis, but that the government put an end to what would be a “spectacularization”. He cited the operation launched in the morning by the Federal Police, which investigates the insertion of false vaccination data in the Ministry of Health system, and that the objective of not giving much publicity is so as not to “violate legal and constitutional guarantees”.
Dino was also questioned about the execution of arrests in second instance, but he said that it is not up to the Ministry of Justice to “legislate” about this, but to the deputies.
“And if [o Parlamento] understand that people can be arrested without a final and unappealable decision, that you vote for us to have what you [Dallagnol] defends – and that is neither the position of the Supreme Court nor the Constitution. The same goes for the privileged forum, which is in the Constitution and is not an issue that we, in the ministry, can change. Who changes the Constitution is the National Congress ”, she added.
