Deltan rebuts Gilmar: I prefer the church to protect the corrupt – 07/16/2023 – Politics

The impeached deputy Deltan Dallagnol (Podemos-PR) responded this Sunday (16) to the minister of the STF (Federal Supreme Court) Gilmar Mendes this Saturday (15), saying that the parliamentarian, removed from the Chamber of Deputies by decision of the TSE (Tribunal Superior Electoral), can now found a church.

Deltan published the response on social networks, said that the magistrate offends Christians, religious institutions and all Brazilians “who support the fight against corruption”, and classified Gilmar’s speech as an act of religious intolerance.

“It is sad to see a minister of the Supreme reach such a low level as to attack people’s faith, in such a despicable act of religious intolerance. Perhaps, because he does not live the love of God, he cannot understand what a demonstration of love, faith and compassion from the thousands of Brazilians who showed solidarity on that occasion. And in response to his crude provocation: I’d rather found a church than found a club to protect the most corrupt and criminals in Brazil,” tweeted the former coordinator of the Operation Lava Jato.

Gilmar mocked the “rain of Pix” that Deltan claimed to have received after leaving the Chamber at an event by the Prerogativas group to honor former court minister Sepúlveda Pertence, who died earlier this month at the age of 85.

The jurist also criticized Lava Jato, which ended in 2021, and said it was necessary to rethink the current model of action by the Public Ministry and in Brazilian Justice. “We are going to organize a forward escape, we are going to save the Judiciary from this great scandal”, he reiterated.

“The Public Ministry continues to be an extremely important institution. The fight against corruption in Brazil is fundamental. Now, don’t believe that you are the fourth branch, because you are not. your paper.”
