The Association of Federal Judges of Brazil (Ajufe) and regional associations of the category express this Sunday (16) “deep repudiation” for the attacks against the Minister of the Supreme Federal Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes and his family members at the international airport of Rome, in the Italy.
“In the same way as has already been done in relation to the previous unjustifiable and unacceptable attacks on the Ministers of the Federal Supreme Court, as well as on the seat of the Court, once again the representative associations of the federal judiciary await the effective and exemplary accountability of the authors of the said attack, in accordance with the rules relevant to the case,” reads an excerpt from the note signed by the associations.
The Federal Police identified Andreia Mantovani, her husband, Roberto Mantovani Filho, and her son-in-law Alex Zanatta as suspects of offending and assaulting Moraes’ son. Zanatta testified to the PF and denied having committed any aggression against Moraes and his family. In a note, Roberto and Andreia stated that they “sincerely regret everything that happened” and also denied any aggression.

“The Association of Federal Judges of Brazil (AJUFE) and the undersigned regional associations of the federal judiciary (AJUFESC, AJUFESP, AJUFERJES, APAJUFE, AJUFERGS, AJUFBA, AJUFER and AJUFEMS) hereby express their profound repudiation of the attack suffered by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court and President of the Superior Electoral Court, and his family, in Rome, where he was participating in a scientific event.
In the same way as has already been done in relation to previous unjustifiable and unacceptable attacks on the Ministers of the Supreme Federal Court, as well as on the seat of the Court itself, once again the representative associations of the federal judiciary await the effective and exemplary accountability of the authors of the aforementioned attack, in accordance with the rules relevant to the case.
It is necessary to respect the independence of the Judiciary, a fundamental principle of our Constitution, especially of our Supreme Court and the TSE, and its Ministers should receive dignified and respectful treatment derived from the exercise of such relevant functions.
The federal judiciary understands that the repetition of such attitudes does not contribute to the maintenance of effective democracy in our country or to the construction of a more just, plural and solidary society”.
The note was signed by: Association of Federal Judges of Brazil (AJUFE); Association of Federal Judges of the State of Santa Catarina (AJUFESC); Association of Federal Judges of São Paulo and Mato Grosso do Sul (AJUFESP); Association of Federal Judges of Rio de Janeiro and Espírito Santo (AJUFERJES); Paraná Association of Federal Judges (APAJUFE); Association of Federal Judges of Rio Grande do Sul (AJUFERGS); Association of Federal Judges of Bahia (AJUFBA); Association of Federal Judges of the 1st Region (AJUFER); and Association of Federal Judges of Mato Grosso do Sul (AJUFEMS).
