Deltan is invited to a paid role in the party – 06/08/2023 – Power

Podemos invited the impeached federal deputy Deltan Dallagnol (PR) to exercise a paid role in the party, coordinating the training of new political leaders.

According to the caption, the salary amount will only be discussed after the former parliamentarian decides whether to accept the job proposal.

Former coordinator of the Operation Lava Jato task force in Curitiba, Deltan had his mandate revoked confirmed by the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Deputies on Tuesday (6), after the TSE (Superior Electoral Court) unanimously determined , the loss of his parliamentary mandate.

The cassation action stems from the representation of the Brazilian Hope Federation (PT, PC do B and PV) and the PMN.

They claimed that Deltan could not have left his career as a public prosecutor to enter politics because he responded to disciplinary complaints, investigations and requests for action at the CNMP (Conselho Nacional do Ministério Público) —which supervises the functional duties of members of the Public Ministry .

According to party members, Deltan and the party’s president, Renata Abreu, talked about the job proposal on Tuesday night.

Renata arrived at Deltan’s office in the Chamber a few minutes after the Board of Directors’ decision.

On his way out, he told the press that he had received the news with “great sadness”. According to her, there was an understanding among Deltan’s allies that it would be up to the Mesa “also to judge the defense”. “But the decision was made and now it’s time to move on,” she said.

As a deputy, Deltan received a monthly salary of R$ 44,000, in addition to several other sums related to the mandate.

Podemos also had another exponent of Lava Jato among its staff, former federal judge Sergio Moro, currently a senator for the União Brasil do Paraná. At the time, Moro received a salary as a party leader. The value of his paycheck was R$21,700 (R$15,000 net).

This Wednesday (7), Minister Dias Toffoli, of the STF (Supreme Federal Court), determined the diplomation of Luiz Carlos Hauly (Podemos-PR) in the Chamber, in the vacancy that belonged to Deltan.

Toffoli responded to a request from Podemos and with that reversed the decision of the TRE (Regional Electoral Court) of Paraná, which had allocated the Deltan vacancy to Itamar Paim, a pastor from Paranaguá affiliated with the PL, the acronym of former President Jair Bolsonaro.

Hauly is a veteran in the Chamber, having already been a deputy for seven terms.

Toffoli also rejected Deltan’s request for an injunction to suspend his impeachment. The PL argued that Deltan’s vacancy should go to Paim because Hauly did not reach the minimum electoral quotient. The election was confirmed by the Electoral Justice of Paraná.

Toffoli understood differently. The STF minister pointed out that the TSE, by canceling Deltan, authorized the “preservation of his votes for the party” — in this case, Podemos. For him, Deltan’s impeachment after the election cannot be a reason to disregard the party’s votes.
