Delivery of stages of the Glicério Marques Sports Complex revives memories in former visitors to the site – News of Brazil

A City Hall of Macapá delivered the first three phases of the Glicério Marques Sports Complex, located on Avenida Mendonça Junior, downtown. The ceremony brought together hundreds of people, including athletes, members of associations and sports clubs, authorities and the general population. There were moments of emotion, demonstrated in the looks of each one and in the words uttered in speech.
O Glycerio Marques Complex, stadium opened on January 15, 1950, it was the scene of major national and state competitions and for many people, the place holds unforgettable affective memories, as it happens with you Region Brito Ferreira, 73 years old, retired heavy machinery mechanic. He has a love story with the stadium.
A resident of the vicinity, he says he feels emotional whenever he passes by the place, due to the memories of his adolescence, when he came to watch the games and when he got together with friends and they would sneak into the place to play soccer.
“It was all wood around here. We got together in 10 kids, dug a hole under the fence we had here and went in to play in the field. It was a lot of fun, even when the cavalry arrived to expel us. We ran out, escaping through the same hole we had entered”. For him, learning about the inauguration of these stages of the sports complex, now modernized, is a reason for great joy. “Entering here again is like stepping back in time! I’m going to walk around here, in every corner, and remember the good things I’ve experienced in this environment”he concluded, moved.
the parathlete Aristeu Santos, 62 years old, was happy with the inauguration. He competes in running on athletics tracks and street racing for wheelchair users. For him, the inauguration of the complex brings satisfaction and joy, knowing that there will be a space for training and competitions in the sports he practices.
“I always participate in championships in and out of state. I have already won many medals, and I am happy because we will certainly have a space here to prepare ourselves and be able to conquer more than we have already conquered”he concluded.
Adervane Costa de Oliveira, better known as Baraquinha, is a former soccer player and assistant coach of the Sports and Leisure Coordination of the City of Macapá. He has been performing his duties at Glicério Marques for 23 years. He claims to know every inch of the space, to which he has been dedicating part of his professional life.
“I’ve been going to this stadium, now a sports complex, since I was a child. I studied my primary here next door, at the former Doutor Janary Nunes school, so when I left there, I came here. It was here that I practiced my first kicks on the ball. At that time, there was no football school, but we gathered the kids together with the football players of the time and so we perfected ourselves in this art of playing ball and contributed to the discovery of talents. I was always sure that I would see this revitalized place again, in full activity, with a quality structure to receive national and international clubs. Today I am living this moment together with the population of Macapá”pointed out Baraquinha.
The work is carried out in four stages and has a budget of 3 parliamentary amendments, plus resources from the Municipal Treasury. Two amendments are from the senator David Alcolumbre, which add up to R$ 9,858,550.36 million. The third amendment was sent by former federal deputy Evandro Milhomem, in the amount of R$ 1,950,000.00 million. And there are R$ 3,997,168.13 million in counterpart funds from the Municipal Treasury.
