Daycare attack leaves 4 dead and 4 injured

A day care center was the target of an attack this Wednesday morning (5) in Blumenau, in the Itajaí Valley, in Santa Catarina. The Military Police confirmed that four children died at the Cantinho Bom Pastor nursery, and four people were injured.

According to police, a 25-year-old man broke into the premises with an ax and attacked people. Samu, Military Fire Department and PM are acting in the event.

“On the morning of this Wednesday (5), a 25-year-old man entered an educational establishment located in the Velha neighborhood and attempted against the lives of infants there,” the Military Police of Santa Catarina (PMSC) said in a statement.

Still according to the PM, the aggressor left the scene walking and surrendered himself to the guard of the 10th BPM, where he was arrested and forwarded to the Civil Police.

Only fathers and mothers could enter the site, and by 10 am, all children had already been delivered to their families.

After the announcement of the tragedy, the governor of Santa Catarina, Jorginho Melo, declared official mourning for 3 days. ““It is with great sadness that I receive the regrettable news that the Cantinho do Bom Pastor private day care center, in Blumenau, was invaded by an assassin who attacked children and employees. governor.

The President of the Republic, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, published a message of condolence for the victims. “There is no greater pain than that of a family that loses its children or grandchildren, even more so in an act of violence against innocent and defenseless children. Pastor,” Lula wrote on Twitter.

The attack comes less than ten days after a school in São Paulo was targeted by a teenage student who stabbed a teacher to death and injured three others, in addition to a student. Since 2011, more than 10 schools have been attacked by criminals in Brazil.
