David Almeida, current mayor of Manaus for the Avante party, denied affiliation with the Liberal Party (PL) to run for municipal re-election in 2024. In a note released on social media this Thursday (7), he clarifies that he did not sign an affiliation form with the party of former president Jair Bolsonaro.

“Contrary to what has been reported this Thursday, the mayor of Manaus clarifies that he did not sign a PL membership form. David Almeida continues with Avante, the party for which he ran and won the elections in 2020,” he published.

Also this Thursday, David Almeida shared a post on social media alongside the National President of Avante, Federal Deputy Luís Tibé, stating that they discussed the current municipal scenario.

According to the study carried out by Instituto Pontual Pesquisas, released last Friday (1), Amom Mandel (Citizenship) leads the voting intention polls with 32.4%, while David Almeida followed with 28.1%.

Far-right candidates Alberto Neto (PL) and Roberto Cidade (União Brasil) followed with 8.7% and 7.1%, respectively.
