Davi celebrates resumption of the “Luz para Todos” program in Amapá – News of Brazil

One of the main articulators in search of solutions for the universalization of the electric energy service in Amapá, Senator Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), coordinator of the federal bench, celebrated the resumption of the program “Light for All”the old one “More Light for the Amazon”in the state.
This Friday (25), a ferry with the first load of systems and equipment, in addition to technicians on board, left the pier on the shore of Santa Inês, in Macapá, heading to the District of Jarilândia, in the municipality of Vitória do Jari , with the aim of starting the “Light for All”. Considered a great achievement for the people of Amapá, the action should benefit around 2,500 riverside families, approximately 10,000 from Amapá.
By December, another 3,500 connections are planned through the conventional electricity network in the rural zone of the 16 municipalities, at a cost of R$62 million, benefiting at least another 10,000 people from Amapá.
Present at the relaunch of “Light for All”, this Friday, the 26th, Governor Clécio Luís highlighted the mobilization of the state to receive the ship and other vessels in order to make “this great dream come true for thousands of families”, mainly in the riverside regions. For the governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís, this is an important moment for the resumption of the program and, in particular, for families in need.
“Today, a vessel leaves Macapá for Jarilândia, a town in the south of the municipality of Vitória do Jari, with around 40 employees from CEA Equatorial to carry out installation services for more than 200 photovoltaic panels, as part of the “Light for All” and with the full support of Senator Davi to benefit these families in the Amazon”.
This year, the federal government announced the resumption of the program “Light for All” which in this new phase will benefit more than 350,000 Brazilian families, possibly reaching 500,000 by 2026, bringing electricity to the rural population, especially in the north of the country and in remote regions of the Legal Amazon. “The supply of electricity is essential for the social and economic development of families residing in rural areas and remote regions of Brazil. It is an essential service and a fundamental right of citizens, as it aims to meet their basic needs. The resumption of the program will guarantee a dignified life and citizenship to millions of Brazilians”, said the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira.
For senator Alcolumbre, one of the main articulators in the fight for the universalization of the electric energy service in Amapá, the relaunch of the “Light for All” not only does it offer better quality of life and well-being for the population, it also promotes advances in the socioeconomic development of the region. “This program plays a fundamental role for the population in the north of the country, especially in the riverside communities of our Amapá. I am sure that we are getting closer and closer to solutions in order to universalize the electricity service for our state, bringing quality of life to families”, highlighted.
For years, Senator Davi has been working for improvements in the electricity service in Amapá. In a historic act in August 2020, the parliamentarian, then president of the Federal Senate, signed, together with the federal government, the program of guidelines for the execution of the then “More Light for the Amazon”, with an investment of more than R$ 100 million to installation of clean and renewable energy generation equipment for the community of amapa. Shortly afterwards, the program stopped, being relaunched now, in 2023, inserted in the “Light for All”.
“Throughout my public life I have fought to improve the living conditions of Amapá citizens. We are a potentially rich state, but with deep deficiencies in the area of infrastructure, which establishes an inequality that affects mainly the populations that live outside our urban centers”, stressed Alcolumbre.
Families in riverside regions will be the main beneficiaries
In Amapá, between August and December of this year, a first stage should be carried out with 2,500 connections to riverside communities that never had power supply.
The total cost of the operation will be approximately R$ 100 million in clean and renewable energy.
These connections will be made through the implementation of the Individual Electric Power Generation System with Intermittent Source (SIGFI), which works through the use of solar energy, and each family will receive this system. In addition to delivery, CEA Equatorial will be responsible for maintaining the SIGFI.
At first, the municipalities of Cutias do Araguari, Amapá, Laranjal do Jari, Macapá, Mazagão and Vitória do Jari will be considered, making progress possible in the Rio Cajari Extractive Reserve and in the Bailique region. “Riverside dwellers, quilombolas, artisanal producers in extractive reserves, all feel this lack of infrastructure. If rivers partially replace the need for roads, the lack of access to electricity still penalizes significant portions of our population”, said Senator David.
For 2024, three thousand connections are planned in Amapá, with an investment of R$ 130 million. “With more energy supply, I believe, in a short time the local population will have more access to cell phones and other means of digital communication, to break the isolation once and for all and allow the integration of these people to the rest of Brazil and the world”, highlighted Senator Davi Alcolumbre.
The resumption of the Luz para Todos Program is also aimed at accelerating and democratizing access to and use of electricity in Brazil, promoting citizenship and quality of life for the Brazilian population. In addition, in this new stage of the program, new demands for access to electricity may be considered, including from low-income families who, despite being located in municipalities considered universalized, do not have access to this service.
