Daniel Silveira writes a letter and denies having planned against Alexandre de Moraes

Former deputy Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ) wrote a letter denying his involvement in the acts of January 8th. In the document, the former parliamentarian denies that he planned the attacks that day with Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES) and former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

In the handwritten text by Silveira from the penitentiary where he is imprisoned in Rio de Janeiro, the former parliamentarian confirms that he participated in the aforementioned meeting but denies some accusations made by Do Val. In a live broadcast made in February, the senator accuses the former deputy of planning “a coup d’état” of wanting to record attacks of the day and of wanting to record Minister Alexandre de Moraes with the intention of reversing the result of the 2022 elections.

According to Silveira, even though the meeting actually took place, Moraes’ name was never mentioned. “During the famous meeting, Marcos do Val praised the president [Bolsonaro] and said he would fight in the Senate for conservative agendas. The name of the STF minister was not even mentioned,” wrote the former deputy.

The document was disclosed by Silveira’s lawyer, Paulo Faria, this Sunday (23). In a note published with the letter, Faria also stated that Do Val presented “false and frivolous accusations” and that the senator will answer “civilly and criminally for his actions”.

Do Val’s accusations

In testimony to the Federal Police, this Thursday (19), Do Val reaffirmed that Daniel Silveira was the creator of the plan to raise suspicions against Alexandre de Moraes.

Silveira’s plan, according to Do Val, would be to record Moraes and induce the minister to say something against the electoral system. The senator reported having been sought out by Silveira and that Bolsonaro had invited him to the meeting at the Alvorada Palace.

After the invitation, the senator asked to be received by Moraes and asked the minister whether or not he should attend the meeting. According to the congressman, Moraes would have said that “information is always important”. Silveira denies that this happened.

“This clown who invented a story that becomes increasingly ridiculous due to the obvious. Neither the President nor I had ever seen the member of Swat, CIA, FBI, Mossad and Tutti quanti, so why would we ask him, then him, for such an idiotic thing? Only a purple idiot would believe this nonsense! Furthermore, why would Alexandre de Moraes confess to him, then to him, something substantial that would incriminate him? You have to be a complete idiot to believe this story, and if it were true, there is no such thing as crime,” Silveira wrote in his letter.
