‘Crazy thing’, said Bolsonaro about recording Moraes – 07/12/2023 – Mônica Bergamo

Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) returns to testify at the Federal Police this Wednesday (12), under suspicion of involvement in a coup plan with licensed senator Marcos do Val and former deputy Daniel Silveira, now arrested.

The senator himself revealed that the plan was to record the minister of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) Alexandre de Moraes and then question his exemption to lead the elections in the presidency of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and question the presidential election itself.

Bolsonaro will say that he received, yes, Do Val and Daniel Silveira at the Palácio da Alvorada when he was President of the Republic, but that he just listened to what the two said.

In a WhatsApp video conversation with the column, the former president stated that he was “just looking at the faces of the two”, without participating in anything. And that he had “never had a conversation in my life” with Do Val before that encounter.

He also claims that, in the conversation, Daniel Silveira was trying to extract information from the senator about the magistrate, without success.

And ironizes the duo: “These are the people who wanted to strike a blow”.

“It’s another shot in the water against me”, says Bolsonaro. “Meanwhile, there are three soldiers linked to me arrested. Or rather, two, since the [tenente-coronel Mauro] Cid is no longer mine [não integra sua equipe]. And more than 250 citizens also arrested [por participarem dos atos golpistas de 8/1]”.

The ex-president’s defense will also invoke messages from Senator Do Val’s cell phone sent to Bolsonaro and which would have been originally sent to Alexandre de Moraes. In them, the parliamentarian tried to arrange a meeting with the minister.

In them, Do Val tells the magistrate that Deputy Daniel Silveira would be “making all the moves with the aim of leading him to lose his position as minister and even be arrested”.

Bolsonaro, according to the message from the seized cell phone, would have replied only: “A crazy thing”.
