Financial market agents expect former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) to support the governor of São Paulo, Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicans), for the presidency of the Republic in 2026 if he is unable to run for election. The defense of the representative of Palácio dos Bandeirantes was revealed by the Genial/Quaest survey released this Wednesday (12).
The survey points out that 74% of them expect Bolsonaro’s support for Tarcísio; 19% to Governor Romeu Zema (Novo), from Minas Gerais; and 1% to former First Lady Michelle Bolsonaro (PL). Already 5% of respondents do not want any of these names and 1% answered in “others”.
The preference for Freitas has grown since the first survey in May, when he was cited by 66% of respondents. On the other hand, it fell to Zema, who had 25%, and to Flávio Bolsonaro (PL), with 3% in the survey – he was not mentioned in the recent survey.
The survey also pointed out that 57% of respondents consider a candidate with no connection to Bolsonaro or Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) to be unfeasible, also higher than that recorded in the May survey, in which 55% had this opinion.
The survey was carried out with 94 people through online interviews, linked to investment funds based in the state of São Paulo and in Rio de Janeiro between the 6th and 10th of July, such as managers, economists, analysts and market decision makers financial.
