CPMI recalls Mauro Cid and breaks Carla Zambelli and Delgatti’s secrecy

The parliamentarians who participate in the CPMI acts of January 8 approved, this Thursday morning (24), the recall of Lieutenant Colonel Mauro Cid to give one more statement to the commission, in addition to other 56 requests.

Among them are the summoning of more military personnel and the breach of secrecy of federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) and hacker Walter Delgatti Neto, who would have been hired to operate an alleged scheme to invade electronic voting machines.

The approval of the 57 requests, the majority from the governing base, generated an argument between the deputies Laura Carneiro (PSD-RJ) and Marco Feliciano (PL-SP) shortly before the beginning of the testimony of sergeant Luis Marcos dos Reis, who was part of the Order Assistance team of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL). He is named, in a report produced by the Financial Activities Control Council (Coaf), as responsible for transferring R$81,000 to his former boss, Mauro Cid.

The date of Mauro Cid’s new testimony has yet to be set. In the last hearing in which he participated in the CPMI, Bolsonaro’s former aide was silent. He testifies to the CPI of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District this Thursday (24th), and said that he will maintain the same position adopted in the Congressional commission of also remaining silent.

Carla Zambelli had telephone and telematic secrecy broken by the CPMI, in addition to the financial intelligence report (RIF). The deputy’s brother, Bruno Zambelli, was also the target of the approved application.

Delgatti’s broken secrets are banking, tax, telephone and telematic.

Another former adviser to Bolsonaro, Tércio Arnaud Tomaz, also had his telephone and telematic secrecy broken by the CPMI.

Among the soldiers who will have to testify to the CPMI are Colonel Marcelo Casimiro Vasconcelos Rodrigues, Sub-Lieutenant Beroaldo José de Freitas Júnior and Second Lieutenant Osmar Crivelatti.

The Army was also asked to provide the processes, investigations and inquiries initiated to investigate the participation of military personnel in the acts of January 8. In addition to the Force, the CPMI requested information from the PF, Military Police of the Federal District, Public Security Secretariat of the DF, and images of the internal security circuits of the Palácio da Alvorada and the Ministry of Defense between July 1st and December 31st. from 2022.

At a meeting at the command of the Army in Brasília on the morning of Wednesday (23), the president of the CPMI, deputy Arthur Maia (União Brasil-BA), was assured by the general commander, general Tomás Miguel Ribeiro Paiva, that the Force will collaborate with the work of the commission and will not bar the summoning of military personnel.
