CPI President will ask for Enel director to be summoned – 11/06/2023 – Panel

The CPI (Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry) of Enel in Alesp (Legislative Assembly of São Paulo) must summon the company’s CEO to provide clarifications after the blackout experienced in São Paulo.

The president of the commission, deputy Thiago Auricchio (PL), will present on Wednesday (8), the day of the group’s meeting, the request to summon the company’s CEO, Max Xavier Lins. If approved, he should be heard on the 14th as a witness.

The expectation is that the application will be approved easily, given the scale of the problems experienced in the metropolitan region.

On Sunday morning, 4.1 million were still without electricity. Around 500,000 addresses started this Monday without electricity in the capital of São Paulo, according to Enel itself.

The commission had previously approved the executive’s invitation for the 22nd. With the recent problems, the objective is to bring forward the company’s accountability.

The request will be to demand clarification on possible irregularities and abusive practices by the company in providing services in the metropolitan region.

The call form must contain a warning that, in case of absence, measures will be taken to use the coercive conduct method.

Proposed by Auricchio, the CPI was the first to be filed with Alesp. The original idea was to verify services between 2018 and 2023.

On the occasion, the deputy cited problems such as power outages, collection of amounts, operational performance, support for consumers and city halls, execution of the social tariff, in addition to signed contracts, execution of investments and planned works, as well as the state of conservation of the infrastructure and energy distribution network.
