Actress tries to justify fake news about Hamas attack after criticism from entity

Actress Letícia Sabatella, who has been active on social media in favor of the Palestinian people, published and deleted a fake news this weekend, which led her to be the target of criticism from the Brazilian Israeli Confederation (Conib).

In a note published this Monday (6), Conib states that it notified the technology company Meta for a post made by the actress on Sunday (5), on Instagram, in which she said that some of the Israelis killed during the Hamas terrorist attack in On October 7, she was reportedly “shot down” by Israeli soldiers.

The statement directed to a fake news published by the pro-Palestine website Electronicintifada.net, which became inaccessible after the actress deleted the post. “Most of the Israeli civilians killed in the Hamas terrorist attack on 10/7/23 were shot by Israeli soldiers. Article in the link”, said the image published by Letícia Sabatella.

Conib refuted the actress’ statement, saying that the Hamas attack against Israel killed more than 1,300 people, including children, women, the elderly and pregnant women, as well as dozens of hostages, and that it was the “worst massacre against the people Jew since the Holocaust.”

“Messages like this from Sabatella are hideous, painful and offensive lies, true obstacles to the peace we all desire,” said the entity (see in full).

Meta did not comment on the notification made by Conib. Hours later, in the early afternoon, Letícia Sabatella published a video trying to justify herself for publishing the fake newssaying that he has received information from all sides about the “massacre that is happening in Palestine”.

“I end up entering this cycle of information, looking for information, and I post some things that refute these accusations that justify the massacre, and I counter them with other information and counterpoints in Stories”, he said, carefully choosing the words in the recording.

The actress tried to justify the post fake news saying that “there are people who say that all these deaths were not just caused by the group of terrorists”. “The Israeli army has been committing many barbaric things for many years, anyway. There is a lot of information from all sides”, he added without retracting evidence or indicating the sources of the statements.

Letícia Sabatella also denied that she has any type of anti-Semitism against the Jews, justifying that the Palestinians are also Semites, and stated that she is in solidarity with the Israelis for what happened on October 7th.

And, furthermore, he highlighted that Israel’s counterattack against Hamas “cannot justify the attack on hospitals, ambulances, children and civilians due to the existence of a group of terrorists who do not represent the majority of the Palestinian population ”.

Conib did not comment on the actress’s new post until the closing of this report.
