The January 8 CPI postponed the vote that was scheduled for this Tuesday (22) on requests for summons and breaches of secrecy linked to suspicions involving former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL).

The deputies and senators reached an agreement, however, to hear next Tuesday (28) Fabio Vieira, former commander of the Military Police of the Federal District. Next Thursday (30), the CPI should receive General Gonçalves Dias, former minister of the GSI (Institutional Security Office).

The plan of parliamentarians who oppose Bolsonaro was to approve breaches of tax secrecy by the former president, former first lady Michele Bolsonaro and lawyer Frederick Wassef.

The rapporteur of the CPI, Eliziane Gama (PSD-MA), also presented a request to break the secrecy of Valdemar Costa Neto, president of the PL.

President of the CPI, Deputy Arthur Maia (União Brasil-BA), however, had not defined which requests would enter the agenda of the meeting this Tuesday (22), which was scheduled to start in the morning.

Without this definition, the committee members would need to reach an agreement on what would be voted on, which did not happen. The session was even postponed to the afternoon, but was canceled after a closed meeting of CPI members held at lunchtime.

Maia must now present which items will be voted on at the meeting on Thursday (24) or next Tuesday (28).

In addition to the requests involving the former president and Michelle, Bolsonarist parliamentarians try to bar the vote on breaches of secrecy by Deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP) and the summons of Paulo Sérgio Nogueira, Bolsonaro’s former Minister of Defense.

Eliziane also suggested breaking the secrecy of the data of Mauro Cesar Lourena Cid, father of Mauro Cid, former head of Bolsonaro’s aides. The rapporteur’s idea is to understand whether there is a connection between the financing of coup acts and the case of attempts to sell jewelry delivered to former President Bolsonaro by foreign authorities.

General Gonçalves Dias was heard in June by the CPI of January 8 of the Legislative Chamber of the Federal District. He confirmed to the district deputies that an Abin (Brazilian Intelligence Agency) report had been edited sent to the National Congress with the alerts triggered on the eve of the attacks on the seats of the Powers.

Fabio Vieira, on the other hand, is among the members of the PM dome of the DF arrested by the Federal Police on charges of omission on the day of the coup attacks.

The PGR (Attorney General of the Republic), which called for the arrests, stated that Vieira’s messages showed that the police were “supporters of conspiracy theories about electoral fraud, anxious for measures that could lead to the subversion of the result of the polls”.

Later this week, on the 24th, the CPI will hear from Sergeant Luis Marcos dos Reis, who was part of Bolsonaro’s aide-de-camp team. This statement had already been confirmed last week.

Reis participated in the invasion of Praça dos Três Poderes on January 8 and is under arrest because of suspicions of forgery of the vaccination card of the former President of the Republic. Coaf (Council for the Control of Financial Activities) identified atypical movement in the account of Bolsonaro’s former assistant.

The CPI decided to seek information related to Zambelli’s performance after programmer Walter Delgatti Neto, the “Vaza Jato hacker”, told the CPI that he participated, at the deputy’s request, in attempts to delegitimize the electoral system.

The conspiracy against the polls still involved Bolsonaro, according to Delgatti. That’s because the former president referred the hacker to a conversation at the Ministry of Defense —an episode that motivated members of the CPI to ask for the summoning of former Minister Nogueira.

Bolsonaro denies participation in coup plots and irregular sale of jewelry. The former president said last Thursday (17) that Delgatti fantasized in his testimony to the CPI.

“He is inspired today. There was a meeting and I sent him to the Ministry of Defense to talk to the technicians. He was there [no Alvorada e na Defesa] and the matter died. He’s completely flying,” Bolsonaro told Jovem Pan radio.
