Document will be presented this Thursday (25/05) and taken to vote in plenary later
Manaus (AM) – The members of the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of Águas de Manaus held a preparatory meeting, this Monday afternoon (22), at the Manaus City Council (CMM), to align the next actions of the working group, which should result in presentations of the final report and signature of the Management Adjustment Term (TAG) with the concessionaire, later this week.
According to the president of the CPI, councilor Diego Afonso (União Brasil), this Thursday, each point of the TAG and the respective benefits that will be delivered to the population will be discussed.
“We decided on the construction of a final report, approved a TAG and will present it to the entire society in a press conference. On Thursday, after approval of the final report, we will discuss this TAG point by point. The report will be debated and approved in the last working session of this CPI, on Thursday, at 3 pm”, he said.
The rapporteur of the special commission, councilor Rodrigo Guedes (Podemos), stated that the work of the CPI was conducted and focused on results that would generate a direct impact on citizens. In addition to the readjustment in the sewage tariff, the TAG will also allow the CMM to continue inspecting, in addition to demanding that the city hall monitor and demand that the concessionaire’s services be delivered within what is signed in the concession term.
“We could have taken another route, with no guarantee that we would get anywhere, as happened with many CPIs. In a country where everything increases, especially taxes, for the consumer who needs it most, a reduction of 20% to 25% is a movement against what has been happening, with so many increases”, he added.

At the last meeting held on May 17, the commission defined that the final investigation report will be presented this Wednesday (5/24). On Thursday (25/05) the TAG will be signed, which will provide more transparency in the provision of services, as well as savings for the population. The commission said that negotiations with the concessionaire will define the reduction in the sewage tariff for the next four years.
According to the rapporteur of the CPI, councilor Rodrigo Guedes, after the approval of the report by the commission, the document will also pass through the plenary of the Legislative House.
“If the report is approved, a draft resolution will be generated, which will later be presented and voted on in plenary. And as it has a concrete result for the population, I believe that no councilor will vote against it”, he clarified.
