According to Lissandro Breval, the construction company commits an environmental crime by continuing with the work

Manaus (AM) – Councilor Lissandro Breval (Avante) filed a representation with the Public Ministry of the State of Amazonas (MPE-AM) against the construction company Marquise SA, regarding the landfill work in the Permanent Protection Area (APP) area, in KM-13, on BR-174.

In a complaint presented to the control body, the councilor also cites possible irregularities by the Amazonas Environmental Protection Institute (Ipaam), the State Secretariat for the Environment (Sema) and the company Ecoambiental.

“I filed a representation with the Public Prosecutor’s Office because I will not accept that this company continues to deceive the population of our city, publishing misleading articles about that land invasion”,

Breval said.

“Today I saw a commercial that shows the Marquise landfill as the most modern in Brazil, which won’t ruin anything. We can’t stop the company from publishing its work, but we can’t let this company deceive people,”

Breval added.

The councilor has insistently denounced the promotion of landfills in the area where the Leão stream, the main tributary of the Tarumã, is located. With images of the work already presented in plenary, the councilor states that there are already major earth movements at the site.

“Today an appeal was judged where the judge ruled in favor and where he sees evidence that there was an invasion of land, of damages. And even in the face of all this, the company continues to insist on one of the biggest environmental crimes that Manaus has ever had. And it still does cute advertising. She’s not the one who’s going to shut me up,”

concluded the parliamentarian.
