The team from São Paulo disqualified the Argentines from the competition
The goalless draw between Corinthians and Newell’s Old Boys, in Argentina, qualified the São Paulo team for the quarterfinals of the Copa Sudamericana this Wednesday night (8).
In the first half, the team led by Vanderlei Luxemburgo opted to wait for the opponent in the defense field. With that, the Argentine club created several chances, but ended up sinning in the finalization. Corinthians, in turn, bet on the counterattack, but also without success. Thus, the first stage ended with the partial score of 0 to 0.
In the final 45 minutes, Timão managed to neutralize the opponent’s main moves and suffered less. In the offensive sector, however, the alvinegro team followed the same and created little. With that, the match ended without goals and Corinthians, consequently, advanced from the stage.
Timão returns to Brazil on Wednesday. Before the decision, he faces Coxa in Itaquera, Sunday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), for the 19th round of the Brazilian Championship.
