Conservative leader defends that Spain “is not racist”; Valencia will expel fans

The president of the Community of Madrid, the conservative Isabel Díaz Ayuso, defended this Monday that Spain “is not a racist country”, after the insults that Vinicius Junior received yesterday at the Mestalla stadium in Valencia.

In addition, Ayuso asked for measures to prevent the spread of this image that, in his opinion, “is not real”.

In her speech at the Foro ABC, Ayuso, a candidate for re-election for her position with the Popular Party (PP), equated these racist insults against Vinícius Júnior with “offenses against the king and many other people”.

“Football fields can never turn this around, I don’t know if paralyzing the game and taking measures, but we all have to take care of that a little bit because otherwise the image that is passed on is very harmful and, moreover, it’s a lie,” he added.

Valencia will expel “forever” fans who insulted Vini Jr.

Valencia announced this Monday that it will expel “forever” from the Mestalla stadium fans who uttered racist insults against the Brazilian Vinícius Júnior, Real Madrid striker.

In a statement, the Spanish club explained that the police have already identified a fan who made “racist gestures” against the Brazilian and that “coordinated work is being done to confirm the identity of other possible implicates”.

“From the moment of the facts, all available recordings are being analyzed, working as quickly as possible to clarify what happened, in order to act quickly and forcefully,” added the statement.

The club has already opened a first “disciplinary process” and guarantees that “it will apply the maximum severity” to members who have proven to have this racist conduct.

“The club strongly condemns this type of behavior, which has no place in football and society and which does not correspond to the values ​​of Valencia CF and its fans,” the statement said.

“In this way, we reaffirm our position against racism by acting with the same forcefulness as in 2019, when a fan who made fascist gestures and salutes to Arsenal fans in a Europa League game was sent off for life”, recalled the club.
