The Human Rights Commission of the Chamber of Deputies had a very “heated” meeting this Tuesday (13), with arguments and insults following a statement made by deputy Éder Mauro (PL-PA).

Mauro countered left-wing deputies who spoke about former Rio councilor Marielle Franco on the eve of the day she was murdered six years ago. He said Marielle was “done.” The turmoil was so great that the meeting had to be closed by the president of the collegiate, Daiana Santos (PCdoB-RS).

To the congressmen, the deputy said that “feminists who defend criminals from Rio” do not speak out in favor of the women raped by Hamas terrorists in the invasion of Israel, in October 2023. And he added: “but if it were Marielle Franco, make sure they they would still be (defending) to this day”, he stated.

Éder Mauro continued: “Marielle Franco is f***ing finished. There’s no f*** here”, he shouted.

In response to the PL deputy’s statement, Talíria Petrone (PSOL-RJ), from the same party and state as the former councilor, called Mauro a “torturer” and “killer of s***”. Oppositionist Gilvan da Federal (PL-ES) also joined the debate.

The confusion spread between opposition and government parliamentarians, while left-wing advisors sang the chant of “Marielle present”. Éder Mauro was already gesturing with a sign of disapproval.

When requesting the closure of the session, the president of the collegiate informed that she must report the case to the Chamber’s Ethics Council.
