Tjap delivers Maria da Penha Law Booklet in indigenous languages to the president of the STF. – Amapá Diary

The head of the Women’s Ombudsman’s Office of the Court of Justice of the State of Amapá (Tjap), judge Elayne Cantuária, during an institutional agenda in Brasília (DF), on Tuesday, 12th, delivered the Multilingual Women’s Ombudsman’s Booklet of the Law Maria da Penha, translated into four languages of indigenous ethnicities, to the president of the Federal Supreme Court (STF) and president of the National Council of Justice (CNJ), minister Luís Roberto Barroso. The document was also delivered to the CNJ advisor, judge Renata Gil.
According to hearing judge Elayne Cantuária, the document, in the indigenous languages Galibi, Palikur, Kaxyuana and Karipuna, aims to promote awareness and female empowerment, as well as the fight against domestic and family violence in the indigenous villages of Amapá. The translation was done by teachers from the state education network, located in Parque do Tumucumaque, in Amapá.
The Booklet was launched on March 8th, International Women’s Day, at the Marco Zero Monument, in Macapá.
According to the Tjap Women’s Ombudsman, judge Elayne Cantuária, this work of the Amapaense Judiciary is the consolidation of a policy to combat gender-based violence in a broad, inclusive and effective way.
“The delivery was very important, it shows the great ability to articulate the powers of our State and the concern to bring justice to minorities. Access to and true understanding of Justice only happens when we can include all people so that they know their rights and obligations and build a better society”, detailed the Tjap ombudsman.
