Codajás will receive strengthening for fish production

The State Secretariat for Rural Production (Sepror), pointed to an increase of around 400% in fish production in Codajás (240 kilometers away from Manaus). The survey was presented yesterday (15th), during the meeting between the portfolio holder, Petrucio Magalhães Júnior; the secretary of Aquaculture and Fisheries of Codajás, Josias Lopes; and the technician from the National Rural Learning Service (Senar), Jefferson Nobre.

According to the municipality’s Aquaculture and Fisheries Department, production jumped from nine tons of fish in 2020 to 44.3 tons in 2022. An increase of approximately 400% in production.

According to Senar technician Jefferson Nobre, the consulting work began in 2020, at the request of the Codajás Rural Union.

“In the year 2020, the lack of equipment during the production process was first seen, and through the Social Promotion Fund, this equipment was supplied and put into practice, and soon after, a growth in production was seen” said the technician.

The growth is the result of the actions of the Government of Amazonas, through the Social Promotion Fund (FPS), which invested R$150,000 in the purchase of equipment, including nets for expenses with all equipment, aerators, pump motor and tricycle, to encourage to the production of Codajás

“The municipality of Codajás, which is known as the land of açaí, little by little, with the support of the Government of Amazonas, is associating the production of açaí with fish farming, diversifying productive activities and improving the lives of rural producers” said Petrucio .

Rural production in Manaus

The Institute for Agricultural Development and Sustainable Forestry of Amazonas (Idam) and the Municipal Secretariat of Agriculture, Supply, Center and Informal Commerce of Manaus (Semacc), aligned strategies and joint actions between the agencies to promote rural production in Manaus throughout this year, bringing structure, technical assistance and citizenship to rural producers.

The director-president of Idam, Daniel Borges, who participated in the meeting at Idam’s headquarters alongside the head of Semacc, Wanderson Costa, highlighted that the joint actions to be carried out by the Institute and by Semacc and other municipal and state bodies during this year will promote the strengthening of the primary sector in the rural and riverside areas of the capital of Amazonas.

“We are closing a partnership with the City Hall to prioritize the rural area of ​​Manaus, where we have a great demand from producers, such as the issuance of the Primary Producer Card and regularization through the Rural Environmental Registry. With this partnership, we are going to advance more and more in the primary sector in the Manaus region, expanding the offer of Technical Assistance and Rural Extension (Ater) in the capital”, highlighted the president.

Wanderson Costa, from Semacc, points out that the participation of extension workers from Idam in Manaus + Agro actions is important so that family farming can advance and generate more income in the rural area of ​​the municipality. The Manaus City Hall program is aimed at promoting agriculture in the capital, with the delivery of seeds, fingerlings, assistance with machinery, among other services.

“We brought important guidelines to advance in family farming, in several cultures that are in the strategic planning of the City Hall in partnership with the Government of Amazonas”, emphasized the municipal secretary.

The strategic planning signed between the bodies also aims at paying special attention to fish farming, offering technical assistance and distribution of inputs to rural producers and recovery of tanks, as highlighted by the Director of Agriculture and Supply at Semacc, Meyb Seixas.

“We already have some actions outlined that will be strengthened with Idam’s entry into the process, so that we can create even more potent fish farming, after all, fish is part of the culture of the people of the Amazon”, he said.

During the meeting, other topics were also addressed, such as the creation of a Local Unit (UnLoc) of Idam in the center of Manaus, to offer services in partnership with Semacc; citizenship actions, with the issuance of the Primary Producer Card (CPP); between others.
