CMM seeks strategies to carry out Carnival 2023 in Manaus

Manaus (AM) – On the afternoon of this Tuesday (25), councilor William Alemão (Citizenship) presided over a Public Meeting held at the Manaus City Council (CMM) with representatives of public entities from the security, tourism and traffic portfolios, in addition to the participation of representatives of the entertainment sector and the energy concessionaire for the discussion of strategies and solutions for organizing blocks and bands in Carnival 2023 in the city of Manaus.
The meeting was attended by the president of the Amazonas State Tourism Company (Amazonastur), Gustavo Sampaio, coordinator of the Specialized Center for Traffic Operations (NEOT-DETRAN/AM), Davi Fernandes, head of the Integrated Planning sector at the Integrated Center of Command and Control (CICC-SSP/AM), Captain William Gomes, deputy secretary of Planning and Integrated Management (SEAGI), Colonel Jota Neto, representative of Amazonas Energia, Keliane Oliveira, president of the Association of Entertainment of the State of Amazonas (ASSEAM ), Gerson Sampaio, as well as businessmen from the entertainment sector and cultural producers.
“This type of meeting makes the Government see the needs that the private sector needs to hold events in the city of Manaus, in addition to fostering partnerships, because in this way commerce wins, the worker gains job openings and violence decreases”,
highlights councilor William Alemão, president of the 10th Commission for Tourism, Industry, Commerce, Economic Development, Work and Income of the City Council of Manaus.
Among the topics discussed, it was clear the need for dialogue between those involved, so that decision-making is collegial and able to embrace the possibilities that the Public Power can offer to solve the needs of the private sector.
Topics such as the late opening of the public notice released for the 2023 Carnival, the safety of revelers during free blocks and bands, ordering traffic during events, reducing energy rates charged for temporary connections, reducing time and bureaucracy for the required licenses, approaching educational campaigns and creating a permanent working group were discussed.
The German councilor prepared a letter to be forwarded to the Municipality of Manaus with the proposal to reduce the heat charged in the Tax on Services (ISS) to benefit the tourist trade, dropping from 5% to 2%, in order to leverage the return of activities of entertainment.
