Manaus (AM) — “Sarau do Feupuudo” is back in the capital of Amazonas and the clown show season begins this month, with a circuit through three shelters in Manaus: Lar Batista Janell Doyle, Casa dos Filhos and Casa Mamãe Margarida.

The project “Feupuudo Circulando nos Abrigos” is included in notice no. 005/2023 — Contest-Prize Manaus Identidade Cultural Demais Linguagens, promoted by the Municipal Council of Culture (Concultura), with resources from the Paulo Gustavo Law.

The program starts this Saturday (6), at 2pm, at Lar Batista Janell Doyle. On April 9th, at 3:30 pm, it’s Casa dos Filhos’ turn, and on the 20th, at 3 pm, there’s a performance at Casa Mamãe Margarida.

“The big news this season is the debut of the new costume and the accessibility features in Libras”, says Marcos Efraim, who brings the clown Feupuudo to life. “Our proposal is to create moments of connection with those welcomed.”

The artist highlights that, in this edition, the project prioritizes shelters in the East and North zones.

“We understand that these are areas that still have restricted access to cultural activities, which are centralized in other parts of the capital”,

comments Feupuudo’s interpreter.

Marcos Efraim says that he carries out volunteer work in socially vulnerable places in the city, such as hospitals, bus stations, riverside communities, shelters and participates in groups such as “Acadêmicos da Alegria”.

“I have a great passion for this type of work and the milestone for us to format the project as it is today was in 2022, when we made a presentation at Casa Miga, which welcomes Brazilians, refugees and LGBTQIAPN+ immigrants, at the invitation of the Nations Population Fund United”, recalls the artist.

“It was so strong and moving, that we felt a great desire to take the show to other shelters in Manaus, resulting in the project ‘Feupuudo Circulando nos Abrigos.’”

Feupuudo Soiree

The clowning solo brings a playful, sensitive proposal and invites the public to experience the magic of being on a stage, with different artistic languages.

In addition to Marcos Efraim, who acts and signs the artistic direction, the project’s technical sheet has Ananda Sarah in production coordination, Ezequiel Michiles and Leonardo Alfaia in production assistance, Lay Amorim as social media, César Nogueira in photography, Manuella Barros in press office, Caio Alves in visual identity and Crisoney Gomes in Libras.

“Sarau do Feupuudo” has already been presented in seven municipalities in Amazonas, at Sesc Ver-o-Peso, in Belém; and at the Festival in Solus Tucujus, in Macapá. In Manaus, the production circulated in several cultural spaces and, in 2022, participated in the 15th Amazonas Theater Show and the second and third edition of the Amazonas Circus Festival.

Last year, the show was part of the program at the 38th Sesc Amazonas Book Fair, competed in the competitive show at the Tapajós Theater Festival, in Santarém, and won in the categories of “Best Actor”, “Best Set” and “Best Costume ”.

Schedule

In 2024, the clown Feupuudo is confirmed at the opening of the Solos do Pará Festival, on May 1st, in Santarém. In the event’s program, Marcos Efraim will teach a clowning workshop.

“This year we will also hold the second edition of the ‘On the road’ project, it is the ‘Sarau do Feupuudo on the road 2.0’”, says the artist.
