Governor Clécio Luís, in the meeting this Thursday, 28th, in Brasília, with President Emmanuel Macron, expressed the desire that in the relationship on the Oiapoque border with French Guiana lights of legality be shed so that cooperation between the two peoples become institutional.

Clécio was the only Brazilian governor at the meeting with the French president, which also included parliamentarians, such as senators Davi Alcolumbre and Randolfe Rodrigues.

The people of Amapá left the international event with the feeling that it was a meeting to strengthen ties. “We want to solve problems and cooperate together. This relationship between the Amapá and Guyanese peoples already exists, but we need to shed light on legality so that this cooperation between the peoples becomes institutional cooperation”, pointed out the governor.

Macron, in turn, said he is not against trade between the two countries, but wants a strengthened relationship in this sense.

The French president defended the climate and environmental issue, and argued that with cooperation the fight against illegal mining could be stronger.

These issues, as recognized by Governor Clécio Luís, are already dealt with in the Brazil-France Cross-Border Mixed Commission, which is taking place in Macapá this year.
