The governor of Amapá, Clécio Luís, reacted with indignation this Thursday morning, the 18th, to Ibama’s act of denying studies in deep waters of the Atlantic Ocean, off the coast of Amapá, for possible oil exploration by Petrobras. The manager spoke on the LuizMeloEntrevista program (Diário FM 90.9).
Clécio went so far as to call the decision, signed by the president of Ibama, Rodrigo Agostinho, irresponsible and with bad intentions, emphasizing that the body of the Ministry of the Environment misinforms the Brazilian population, inducing them to think that it is about oil exploration at the mouth of the Amazon river.
The governor showed that Ibama, in fact, does not at least allow research on whether there is oil on the coast of the state of Amapá, since Petrobras wants to drill the Atlantic bottom to verify the existence or not of oil and gas 540 kilometers from the coast. mouth of the Amazon River and 170 kilometers from the tip of Cabo Orange.
Clécio Luís found that by preventing oil studies on the coast of Amapá, Ibama transforms an individual and organ political act into an economic issue, without worrying about Amapá, the Amazon and Brazil. “Anywhere else a serious investigation would be done,” the governor hinted.
The manager pointed out that the body of the Ministry of the Environment, in the case in question, adopts an absurd ideology, presents a report that is too fragile and can undo all the flow that the municipality of Oiapoque has been having lately in preparations for Petrobras prospecting. “I react with indignation and call on people from Amapá to unite against this irresponsible decision by IBAMA”, vented the government official.
