Federal and state deputies and leaders of Cidadania articulated a bloc departure from the party, alleging political and financial persecution by members of party structures.
One of the measures that the group is preparing is the hiring of an independent audit to analyze the financial movement of the acronym. Based on the conclusions, they believe they have legal certainty to leave the party without running the risk of losing their mandate.
The movement includes the federal bench, currently restricted to four deputies, in addition to at least 12 of the 18 state deputies and former parliamentarians.
The group’s revolt is not directed at the president of Cidadania, Roberto Freire, who is trying to deflate the movement, but at internal leaders. The background is an assessment that Citizenship tends to disappear in the coming years and that it is no longer a viable electoral option.
If the exit is carried out, the likely destinations of the dissidents would be PSD, PSB, PSDB and MDB.
