Cineclube presents a documentary based on the life of visual artist Otoni Mesquita

The session aims to celebrate the artist’s 70th birthday
Manaus (AM) – The Cineclube de Arte will present this Saturday, July 8th, the documentary “Otoni Mesquita: Narratives of Life and Art”, at 6:30 pm. The event will take place at Cine Teatro Guarany, which is located at Avenida Sete de Setembro, 1546, attached to the Rio Negro Palace.
Otoni Moreira de Mesquita is a very prestigious Amazonian visual artist recognized for his profound and sentimentalist works. In the film, Otoni reports significant facts of his career as a plastic artist and community artistic activist.
In his production, it is possible to emphasize a romantic tendency with surrealist aspects that frequently presents the Amazonian theme. This theme, in turn, is often treated with a critical view of the methods of occupation and exploitation in the region, with a contemporary language treated through a personal approach.
The programming is free and the indicative rating is free for all audiences. Sérgio Cardoso, director of the documentary, highlights the objective of the exhibition.
“It is a film made to rescue the artist’s memory and immortalize his trajectory. It tells about the path he took, about his personal and professional life, and the challenges he faced to become the expressive artist he is today”,
declared Sergio.
The Cineclube de Arte is a project of the Government of Amazonas, carried out through the Secretariat of Culture and Creative Economy. The initiative aims at valuing regional culture, in addition to attracting a larger audience to cultural spaces and bringing this artistic milieu closer.
