The young woman was a victim of fake news on social media and allegedly committed suicide after receiving hate attacks for having her name linked to that of comedian Whindersson Nunes. The delegate responsible for the investigation, Felipe Monteiro, from the Civil Police of Minas Gerais, requested the confidentiality of profiles related to the case be broken.

“To continue the investigation, which evaluates the intentional crime of inducing suicide, we are awaiting approval of the request to break the confidentiality of the vehicle’s social media accounts. We are also evaluating who will be the next people questioned,” said the delegate in an interview with the newspaper The globe.

This Thursday (28), the I shocked, who has more than 27 million followers on social media, admitted to having replicated false content about alleged conversations that indicated involvement between Jéssica and Whindersson Nunes. “Evidence was provided about the generator of the fake news – which was originally published by another profile and later republished by I shocked – and images of dialogues were made available that show the procedures adopted as soon as the falsehood was discovered, such as the immediate removal of false republished content”, says the statement released by the profile.

After listening to Sousa, the delegate stated that the Civil Police are awaiting release to examine the profiles and are not ruling out the possibility of convicting those involved for the crime of inducing suicide. “The family, through the lawyer, is also interested in opening an investigation into a crime against honor, which can only be requested by the family or the victim herself. However, we have not yet received effective action from family members,” said Monteiro.
