Change was the result of dialogue, says Master Plan rapporteur – 06/25/2023 – Panel

Rapporteur for the review of the Master Plan at the São Paulo City Council, councilor Rodrigo Goulart (PSD) contests the assessment made by the Panel that he was one of the “losers” last week, due to the setbacks he was forced to make in his text, following criticism from urban planners, opposition parties and civil society.

“I regret that the changes, the result of open dialogue with the benches and society, are seen like this. I have no commitment to the error’, said Goulart, through his advisory.

Goulart modified several points of his opinion, which was already voted on in the first round. The main one was the reduction from 1 km to 700 meters in the radius from metro stations, within which the construction of more buildings would be allowed.

“My only commitment is to deliver a fair review, especially with the low-income population. I am sure that we are doing this in several parts of the substitute. Examples are the incentives for social housing, the exclusion of villas, the inclusion of 18 new parks and the increase in the minimum value for housing in Fundurb, which was 30% and increased to 40%”, he said.
