The Chamber of Deputies approved this Wednesday (4) the proposal that creates a program to reduce the waiting list for expertise at the National Social Security Institute (INSS). The project also grants an 18% salary increase for police officers in the Federal District and extends temporary personnel contracts at the National Foundation of Indigenous Peoples (Funai). The text will be sent to the Senate.

The replacement for the rapporteur, deputy André Figueiredo (PDT-CE), was approved for Bill 4426/23, of the Executive Branch. The text replaces Provisional Measure 1181/23 on the same topic. Called the Social Security Queue Combating Program (PEFPS), its purpose is to reduce the time for analyzing backlogged processes regarding benefits, informed the Chamber Agency.

According to the government, when the MP was published, there were around 6.4 million processes with an analysis time exceeding 200 days. One of the new features in the substitute is the possibility of using telemedicine for medical examinations. The initiative to reduce the INSS queue will initially last nine months, extendable for another three. In July, the government announced that INSS administrative employees will receive a productivity bonus of R$68 per task; and medical experts, R$75 per expert opinion.

In the same MP in July, President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) signed a bill to adjust the salaries of security forces in the Federal District by 18%. According to Palácio do Planalto, the request came from the DF bench in Congress. The 18% increase will be paid in two installments of 9%, the first when the law is sanctioned and the second in January of next year. It is possible to check the adjustment amounts for DF police officers on the Chamber of Deputies website.
