The Brazilian Volleyball Confederation will launch this Tuesday (5) a course on conscious use of social media. The action is part of the “Você Inspira, o Mundo Muda” campaign, led by the entity after the case involving the athlete Wallace Souza and the president Lula.

“The campaign is aimed at the entire volleyball universe, not just athletes. The idea is that we can serve everyone who participates in the sport, technical committees, managers, etc. It is a broader invitation for everyone to participate and understand these new times we are living in, where we all have voices on social media: what we say resonates, everything when we have a certain notoriety”, said Henrique Netto, director of New Business at CBV, to the report.

Wallace was punished by the COB Ethics Council at the beginning of last year for “inciting violence”, in publications on social media in which he talks about “shooting Lula”.

According to Henrique, the idea was so popular that the Brazilian Olympic Committee and the Ministry of Sports plan to extend the campaign to other federations and, thus, reach everyone involved in sport in the country. In addition to the course, the entity produced advertising campaigns on the topic.

“In the three modules, we will work on sport beyond the courts, highlighting how these voices impact people’s lives, how social media works, how they can leverage and enhance their respective careers. We will also talk about the dangers, such as incorrect use can make the opposite happen, and how can sportspeople use these digital tools this Monday (4) to build an image”, explained Netto.

Like all athletes spread across Brazil and the world, Wallace is one of those invited to participate in the course.

“In fact, already in the advertising campaign, all the clubs are indicating the athletes they want us to work on in publications supporting the initiative of good use on networks. The invitation to participate in the course was made to all of them, we We really hope that Wallace and all Sada players, as well as other clubs, get involved. We are looking for mass participation”, highlighted Henrique Netto.

CBV hopes that this training course will be the first among many campaigns. Henrique Netto revealed that the entity plans other movements that will address topics such as racism and harassment.

“We want to lead other campaigns, such as the issue of racism, harassment, the issue of integrity.” There are other topics that are very important and the Brazilian Volleyball Confederation would like to lead this. We want to go further. It’s not just the issue of advertising itself, we always want to create this model with the knowledge gained involved”, said the director.
