The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced this Friday (14) that it has made official with the International Football Federation (Fifa) Brazil’s candidacy to host the 2027 Women’s World Cup. The process of submitting candidates to receive the competition was started at the end of March.
“The CBF has just made Brazil’s candidacy official to host the Women’s World Cup. With all the sports equipment and infrastructure that we have, we believe we are going to have a great World Cup […]. Hosting the World Cup is part of our project to increasingly develop women’s football across the country, which is one of the pillars of my management”, declared the president of the CBF, Ednaldo Rodrigues.
On the 23rd of March the fifa officially started the candidacy process to define the host country for the 2027 Women’s World Cup. “Member associations will have until April 21, 2023 to send their expressions of interest in hosting the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup.”
The Brazilian candidacy to host the Women’s World Cup has the support of the president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. In an event held on March 30 at Palácio da Alvorada for the presentation of the 2023 World Cup, which will be played in Australia and New Zealand, Lula said: “It will be an extraordinary event, motivating the construction of a political awareness among the Brazilian people so that they understand the participation of women effectively in every corner where they can and want to participate, where they want, the way they want”.
