CBF confirms side cut due to injury and Diniz announces replacement

The left-back Caio Henrique was formally cut off from Brazilian Team this Thursday (28). In an official announcement, the CBF also informed that the coach Fernando Diniz called Guilherme Aranafrom Atlético-MG, to replace the player cut from the group that will play two qualifiers in October.

“Left-back Caio Henrique, from Monaco (FRA), was withdrawn from the Brazilian Main Men’s Team. Rodrigo Lasmar, the team’s doctor, contacted the French club, which sent an examination report, which attests to a knee sprain “, informed the CBF.

Caio Henrique was injured last Friday, during Monaco’s match with Nice, at the Louis II stadium, in the French Championship round. On Tuesday, the club’s management announced that the Brazilian full-back suffered a sprain in his left knee with damage to the anterior cruciate ligament. He will undergo surgery.

At 26 years old, the former Fluminense player had been one of the new additions to Diniz’s first list, who divides his time between commanding the Brazilian team and the Rio team. The Frenchman’s assist leader this season, with four in six games, made his debut with the national team’s shirt in the 5-1 rout of Bolivia, in Belém, in the opening of the South American Qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup.

Without being able to count on Caio Henrique, Diniz called on Guilherme Arana this Thursday – the other one called up for left back is Renan Lodi, currently at Olympique de Marseille. Arana was Olympic champion at the Tokyo Games in 2021. And he has four matches with the main team.

He returns to the national team after one year. Last season, he was a strong candidate to be one of coach Tite’s call-ups for the team’s left flank at the Qatar World Cup. However, he suffered a serious injury to his left knee in September, two months before the start of the World Cup, and needed surgery.

The Brazilian team returns to the field on October 12th, in Cuiabá, to face the Venezuela, for the third round of the Qualifiers. Five days later, the opponent will be Uruguayin Montevideo.
