Captain Alberto Neto demands improvements in transport in AM

Among the questions, the deputy asks for explanations about the Federal Government’s measures to improve infrastructure in the state

Beasília (DF) – Based on the 2023 report on the Competitiveness Ranking of Brazilian States, federal deputy Captain Alberto Neto, forwarded Information Request n.2385/23, to the Minister of State for Transport, Renan Filho, for clarification regarding the logistics infrastructure of the State of Amazonas, which was considered the worst in the country.

“Infrastructure is the state’s biggest challenge in terms of investing public resources to meet the demands of the population. Therefore, I question the Ministry regarding federal highways and what the plans and deadlines are for there to be an effective improvement in the logistical quality of our state”,

declared the parliamentarian.

The report, consolidated by the Public Leadership Center, evaluates the efficiency and quality of public policies throughout Brazil. One of the focuses of the study is the infrastructure offered by the federation units. Among the indicators in this sector is an item that is very important to the productive sector: the quality of the roads.

In terms of Logistics, Amazonas has a score of 0 and appears in last place in the ranking among the 27 federation units, therefore being considered the worst logistics infrastructure in the country.

“BR-319, as we have said countless times, is an important route in the region and, even so, there is no indication from the government that the problem has been resolved. The highway is an important export corridor, with the aim of integrating Brazil from North to South, however, it remains unfinished due to the omission of Governments little concerned with its development”,

he emphasized.

Among the questions, does the deputy ask for explanations about the Federal Government’s measures to improve infrastructure in the state? What infrastructure works are planned to be carried out in Amazonas? Regarding BR-319, what is the Ministry’s understanding of paving and what will be done to resolve the impasse? And if there are projects for the waterway modal?

As the report pointed out, in addition to the low level of investment, the explanation for the infrastructure deficiencies can also be found in the poor allocation of public resources, as well as the deficiency of regulatory policies for the different infrastructure segments.

“This logistical deficiency is a limiting factor in economic infrastructure, especially in the North Region. It is a recurring situation, every year, the population suffers from isolation and all its consequences. The Ministry needs to show what public policies, works and investments are planned for the state, and what mechanisms the Government intends to adopt to improve the quality of infrastructure in Amazonas”,

said Captain Alberto Neto.
