Caio André assumes presidency of Podemos in Manaus

The councilor met this Thursday to incorporate the PSC into Podemos

Manaus (AM) — The mayor of Manaus, Caio André, took charge of Podemos in Manaus. This Thursday (20), the councilor was in a meeting with the leaders of the political party Podemos, to discuss the incorporation of the Social Christian Party (PSC) into Podemos, the party that is now chaired by the councilor. In 2020, Caio André was elected by the PSC to the Manaus City Council (CMM).

At Em Tempo, Caio André recognized the importance of incorporating the party and the strength to participate in the electoral process.

“With the incorporation we are much bigger in Brazil, in Amazonas and in Manaus! There are 18 federal deputies, 7 senators, 3 state deputies and 5 councilors. This gives us strength to participate in discussions about the electoral process!”

he declared.

State deputy Alessandra Campelo was invited by Podemos to assume the presidency of the party’s state board. Campêlo declared that there is still no definitive date for the inauguration and that the act will take place together with the inauguration of the municipal directory, which will be commanded by councilor Caio André, president of the Manaus City Council.

“I was invited by the national leadership to assume the state presidency of the party. They think it is important to have a woman in the state presidency, also because the national president is a woman (Federal Deputy Renata Abreu, from São Paulo). This work that I am already doing in the fight against violence against women, in guaranteeing rights and women’s participation in politics is very important”

said Campelo this Wednesday (19).

Caio André said that he had already spoken with deputy Alessandra Campelo and that future decisions would be shared. “I’ve already talked to the deputy and all decisions will be shared between the municipal and state directorates.”

The decision to incorporate the PSC into Podemos was unanimously approved in June of this year by the ministers of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The requirements for the merger processes are provided for in TSE Resolution No. 23,571/2018 and it happens when one legend is absorbed by another.
