In a vote carried out by the Footy Headlines website, Palmeiras’ traditional dark green uniform, with gold details, supplied by Puma, was voted as the most beautiful in the world in the month of January.
Alviverde’s victory did not come without a fierce dispute. The white uniform defeated European football heavyweights, such as Manchester City, which came in second place, and Paris Saint-Germain, which came in third.
Manchester City has something in common with Palmeiras: German supplier Puma. However, while Palmeiras sport their signature green, European teams have opted for different approaches to their uniforms.
Manchester City’s kit, designed in honor of the Chinese Year of the Dragon, is predominantly white, with gray details. PSG presents a bold fourth official uniform, in shades of orange with black details, produced by Air Jordan, a subsidiary of Nike.
In addition to the giants of world football, other players caught attention in the voting. Highlights include the Namibia national team goalkeeper shirt, manufactured by Vecchio, and the Uruguay under-23 away kit. The latter, produced by the South American team itself due to the lack of an official supplier after the end of the contract with Tenfield, then holder of Puma’s rights in Uruguay.
The Footy Headlines website extends the search to the whole of 2024, allowing fans to choose not only the best-looking kit for each month, but also the best-looking kit of the year. Considering the start of the new season, an even fiercer competition is expected between clubs and teams around the world.
