Victory over the Netherlands takes the team to the Qualifying semi-final


Brazil is very close to qualifying for the wheelchair rugby tournament at the Paris Paralympic Games. This is because the team secured a place in the semi-finals of the Paralympic Qualifiers after beating the Netherlands 54-51 last Thursday night (21) in Wellington (New Zealand).

To guarantee themselves in Paris, the team led by Canadian coach Benoit Labreke has to secure one of the top three positions in this Qualifying Tournament. Now the Brazilian team will face Australia, first placed in Group A. The match will be played from 11:30 pm (Brasília time) this Friday (22). In the other semi-final, Canada and Germany compete for a place in the big decision.

“We are having a very good tournament. We arrived very well prepared for the games against New Zealand and the Netherlands to overcome their first offensive wave, who also played very good games. It was very important to use our speed to our advantage”declared Benoit Labreke.

All games in the competition are being broadcast on YouTube by the International Wheelchair Rugby Federation (WWR).
