Bourbon County 2022: 30-year vintage arrives for BRL 200 – 06/21/2023 – Full Glass

This time we didn’t even have to wait that long. One of the most beloved labels by brewing geeks, Bourbon County 2022 arrives at Goose Island Brewhouse this Saturday (24th), in the middle of June. It’s almost four months earlier compared to the 2021 edition, which landed here in October last year.

Since 2016, the desired imperial stout has been coming to Brazil. But around here, the version always arrives a year late in relation to the launch in Chicago, headquarters of Goose Island, a brewery that belongs to the Ambev portfolio.

Bourbon County 2022 marked the 30th anniversary of the creation of the seasonal label. The beer will not be available in draft beer, only in its traditional 500 ml bottle, for R$200 (R$20 more than the previous batch).

The Pinheiros brewhouse plans other actions to toast the launch. Among them, a vertical tasting with two other editions of Bourbon, the 2018 and 2020 vintages. Reservations will be made online, on dates yet to be announced by the brewery.

Starting on Saturday, Goose will also offer an exclusive menu to pair with beer, for two people, consisting of a main dish, dessert and shared snacks.

For those who don’t know, Bourbon County is a very liqueur, dark and full-bodied beer. Each year it is aged in American bourbon barrels, which vary from season to season. Therefore, it usually brings subtle differences to tasters with a more acute palate.

The 2022 vintage has 14.3% alcohol and is the result of mixing (or blending) barrels from four US distilleries: Heaven Hill, Four Roses, Wild Turkey and Buffalo Trace. The result is a beer that brings aromas and flavors of vanilla, caramel, chocolate, almonds and dried fruits.

In addition to the label’s 30th anniversary, the release also marked the 35th anniversary of Goose Island.

“Each year, we seek to enhance the Bourbon County experience, especially as we know there are so many passionate people waiting for this moment,” says Fernanda Federico, marketing director at Goose. “Our care is always to ensure that this quality is maintained until the moment it reaches the hands of the consumer and can be appreciated in the best possible way”, she adds.

Ambev did not disclose the number of bottles available, but informed that the current batch is larger than the previous one. Even so, those who want to guarantee theirs, better run (in moderation).
