Bolsonaro’s defense should ask for the removal of the secrecy of Cid’s testimony after criticism

The defense of former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) should ask throughout the day, this Friday (22), for the removal of the secrecy of lieutenant colonel Mauro Cid’s plea bargain following the leak of criticism of the Federal Police and minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF).

The reviews were leaked on Thursday night (21), by the magazine Look, in audios attributed to Cid that he was pressured by the PF to make the accusation and that the investigators “didn’t want to know the truth”. He also stated that the authority would “have the narrative ready” and that Moraes “is the law” who “arrests and releases whenever he wants”.

On social media during the early hours of the morning, lawyer Fabio Wajngarten, who is part of Bolsonaro’s defense team, said that he was surprised by the audios and that “so many possibilities that could have occurred”. He also stated that there is a “potential double game” by Cid with the denunciation.

“Throughout the week the press itself was already portraying a possible discrepancy between what Cid said versus what was on paper. This is very serious. Lifting the confidentiality of the recordings of his statements, in full, will be able to resolve potential doubts and provide the necessary transparency to clarify part of the facts”, he said, stating that the defense will take the necessary measures throughout the day.

Due to the criticism, minister Alexandre de Moraes, rapporteur of the case at the STF, ordered that Mauro Cid be heard in the afternoon by the judge instructing the case, judge Airton Vieira, as confirmed by the Court to the People’s Gazette.

The hearing will be accompanied by Cid’s defense and a representative of the Attorney General’s Office (PGR). The report contacted lawyer Cezar Bittencourt, who defends the lieutenant colonel, and is awaiting a response.

Cid reported in the audio, to an unknown interlocutor, that he was dissatisfied with the developments in the investigations, such as the one that led to the outbreak of the Operation Tempus Veritatisfrom the Federal Police, which targeted Bolsonaro, former ministers, former advisors, allies and military personnel over an alleged coup attempt.

There would also be dissatisfaction after Cid and his wife were indicted this week in the investigation investigating the alleged tampering with the vaccination card of the former president, his wife Gabriela Cid and their daughters. A People’s GazetteBittencourt also reported dissatisfaction, saying that it went against the plea agreement signed with the PF.

“No one lost their career, no one lost their financial life like I did. Everyone was already four stars, they had already reached the top, right? The president had Pix of millions, he became a millionaire, right?”, stated the lieutenant colonel in the audio.
