Senator said plan would be implemented in December to prevent Lula from taking office

Brasilia DF) – Former president Jair Bolsonaro (PL) arrived at around 1:40 pm this Wednesday at the headquarters of the Federal Police, in Brasília, to give testimony about an alleged coup plot reported by Senator Marcos do Val (Podemos-ES), currently on leave. .

According to the senator, this plan would be carried out last December and would consist of recording Minister Alexandre de Moraes, of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), without authorization, and then preventing the inauguration of today’s President Lula (PT).

This will be at least the fourth testimony given by Bolsonaro since he left the Planalto Palace.

Bolsonaro entered through the garage at the back of the building and did not speak to the press.

The senator says that he, Bolsonaro and then federal deputy Daniel Silveira (PTB-RJ) held a meeting to discuss an attempted coup d’état.

The former president admitted to the Mônica Bergamo column that he had participated in the meeting, but stated that he was just watching.

Do Val’s speeches were yet another ingredient in the investigations that investigated the former president’s participation in the coup plan that ended in the attacks on the STF, Planalto and Congress buildings on January 8.

The case adds to Bolsonaro’s historic coup plan and the draft with a coup plan found by the Federal Police at the home of former minister Anderson Torres.

The coup plot reported by Do Val is also detailed in a series of messages attributed to Daniel Silveira. The messages were revealed by Veja magazine. Folha obtained a copy of one of them.

In general terms, the proposal presented to Marcos do Val would involve recording a conversation that would compromise Moraes, who is president of the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). Do Val had contact with the Minister of Public Safety.

According to the coup thesis, the revelation of these audios would lead to a perfect storm for them: Moraes would be arrested, Bolsonaro would remain in office and Lula would not take office on January 1st.

Silveira’s plan, according to Do Val, was to record the minister of the Supreme Court and try to get some contradiction out of him that could later arrest him. “If you accept the mission, paraphrasing 01, we will save Brazil”says a message attributed to Silveira, revealed by Veja and obtained by Folha.

“Daniel’s fear of living with the shadow of Alexandre de Moraes wanting to arrest him at any time was very noticeable. Then he wanted to do the opposite. He built a plot for Alexandre to be arrested”

the senator told Folha.

According to a report by Veja magazine, the meeting would have taken place on December 9, a Friday, at Palácio da Alvorada.

In the publication Marcos do Val detailed the preparations for the meeting – he could only refer to Daniel Silveira and the president with codes, in addition to being picked up in a parking lot by a car, which took him to the presidential residence. There was also no record of entry of the car at the concierge.

The location of the parking lot, according to the senator, was sent by the deputy via GPS, without giving details about the address or the surroundings. The car that Do Val boarded was the president’s security car.
