Former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) said, on Thursday night (6/1), that he would like to run for a seat in the Senate or even run for a second term as President of the Republic in the future if he is not rendered ineligible by the Court. Superior Electoral (TSE).

“I would not want my doors closed for the future in politics. […] I would like, if I could, to collaborate in the future with a mandate as a senator or candidate for President of the Republic, I would”, he told journalists in São Paulo.

Bolsonaro said he is retired from the Chamber of Deputies and receives a salary from the PL, and that he would not like to have the same end that opponents of the governments of Nicaragua and Venezuela are having, such as being arrested or prevented from running for elected office.

“So there is no opposition [nestes países]. I hope that Brazil does not follow this line, let the people decide the future of each one of us. I, as a former president, understand that I can collaborate with my country even in politics”, he added.

Bolsonaro also reinforced that there are no accusations against him for corruption that could make him ineligible.
